Shiba Foundation

Innovating for the Future

Our Mission

At the Shiba Foundation, we aim to achieve long-term sustainable economic development in the PNW region through individual engagement. We support individuals in finding meaning, purpose, and direction in their work and personal activities. Stagnation in personal or professional growth creates an opportunity to explore other outlets. We provide hands-on opportunities to explore creative and practical interests in entrepreneurship, leadership, community development, and personal well-being.

There is a wealth of creativity and passion in Kitsap County that could benefit the local community and contribute to local economic growth. Our programs provide opportunities for individuals to explore new opportunities and develop self-efficacy through action. Evidence suggests that higher levels of well-being and self-efficacy directly impact our ability to grow. We identify sustainable practices that promote well-being and allow for ongoing meaningful growth. By focusing on easily adoptable, sustainable, individual-growth activities we can support growth throughout the community.

Community Spotlight

In collaboration with the Miss PSK pageant, Shiba Foundation is proud to support local young women as they navigate personal and professional development. This year we offered psycho-educational workshops outlining the physiological and cognitive impacts of stage fright. To reinforce learning, we recreated scenarios that generate a stage fright response and observed the impact on the contestant's ability to think on the spot. Engaging in active self-regulation allows us to overcome fears, reduce the impact of stress, and think clearly under pressure. This simple approach supports development by creating awareness of the physical and cognitive processes and how they function differently when we're calm vs under stress.

Who we are

Our team consists of a wide range of learners from around the world who are working to develop and apply their knowledge, perspective, and skills through hands-on involvement in entrepreneurship.

Our team members exhibit high levels of intrinsic motivation which drives their commitment to engage in activities that positively benefit society. Through their ongoing development with the Foundation, they will be able to apply their new knowledge and skill, and create a meaningful impact within their respective fields.

“If I could choose two words to describe Ms. Nicole, they would be Caring and Motivational. I feel so honored to have her as my mentor. She is not only knowledgeable in her field, but also very well versed in (teaching) life skills that are actually useful in real life scenarios. She taught me how to have active conversations and how to restructure the way I approach my own thoughts. As someone who struggles with anxiety, she managed to instill in me some core foundations regarding my self awareness and how I interact with the world around me. Most importantly, her caring nature and dedication is important to me as she not only checks in on me, but provides useful advice in difficult situations. Ms. Nicole has always been approachable and maintained a calm demeanor which makes me feel seen and heard. She is inspirational yet humble and is driven to help others which inspires me to continue my own growth."
